The value of Internet communication for issues related to conservation ecology will soon take a quantum leap with the BIOMEDNET introduction of the Global Biodiversity Information Facility, an interactive, dynamic, real-time database with locality and life history information on ALL of the world's catalogued species of animals, plants, and microorganisms. Free Internet access to additional information about this "yellow pages of life" database is available on line at http://www.biomednet.com/hmsbeagle/71/notes/profile.
